Yes they do, however the level of pain depends on the individual as well as on tattoo placement. Some areas are more sensitive than others. However, everyone has their own threshold for pain and everyone’s experience is different. The key is pain management
A few tips to keep pain to a minimum:
-Get enough rest before your session
-Eat a substantial meal before your session
-Moisturise your skin daily a few days before session.
-Bring a book, ipod/smart phone(with earphones)for music as a distraction. We have free Wi-Fi.
-Sit as still as possible and relax
-Don't fight the pain.
Yes we can, dependant on a few factors:
-how big and dark the old tattoo is.
-how big you’re willing to go in relation to the old tattoo.
-what you want to cover it up with.
The best way to see exactly is by coming past our studio and letting one of our artists have a look and make recommendations accordingly
We do not charge for touchups on tattoos done at our studio within a year of having it done.
However it excludes the following:
- hand tattoos
- foot tattoos
- finger tattoos
- if a client has not looked after their tattoo correctly (water damage, infection etc...)
These are charged at our shop minimum(please confirm what the updated min. is)
There are many schools of thought regarding the aftercare of new tattoos. We will give our clients the best advice to look after a new tattoo according our experience.
DIRECTLY AFTER:
1. Your friendly artist will apply aftercare ointment and wrap tattoo. Keep wrap on for a max of 2 hours after leaving the studio.
2. On removal, your tattoo needs to be cleaned.
3. Wash hands with an anti-bacterial soap ideally.
4. Lightly wash tattooed area with mild unscented soap.( e.g. Dove Pure and Sensitive bar)
5. Rinse gently with lukewarm water, leaving no soapy residue.
6. Pat dry with paper towel and wait until dry to the touch.
7. Lightly apply aftercare ointment. We will normally carry a variety of aftercare offerings for our clients which you can purchase at the end of your session.
Repeat steps 3-7 daily for the first 2-3 weeks.
In the 1st week, your tattoo should be washed approximately 2-3 times a day.
Note that infection can set in if your tattoo is not well maintained in the first 3 weeks in particular.
By the end of week one, your tattoo is likely to become very itchy. Do not scratch it. Instead apply a fragrance free moisturiser to soothe it. It may also help to keep your closed moisturiser in the fridge. The coolness of the moisturiser will have an added soothing benefit.
DON'TS:
-Do not expose fresh tattoo to sun
-Do not wear tight clothing over new tattoo.
-Do not expose tattoo to excessive steam or moisture(no long showers)
- Do not swim for the first 3 weeks.
- Do not apply sunscreen until tattoo is fully healed
- Do not scratch your tattoo especially while it is healing. This will results in scab removal while will not only affect the final result but can also result in infection setting in.
Fully healed Tattoos:
Once your tat is fully healed, the following steps will help you keep it looking its best:
• Keep it out of the sun. When not possible, use an SPF 30 at minimum
• Keep it moisturised
Note: Allergic reactions to some inks are possible. If you have a shellfish allergy please let us know upfront.
